After a while ago i try to upgrade Windows 10 Home retail to Windows 10 Pro. I have one Windows 10 Pro OEM license and i think to use this license to upgrade my Windows 10 Home.
I search on the internet and find doesn of tutorials how to do upgrade and all of that says the same things. Guided by the instructions which I found on the Internet i was started the process.
First i go to Start – Settings – System – About then i choose Change product key or upgrade your edition of Windows ( see the picture below ).
When i click on the link i was see window Enter a product key, then i try to enter my Windows 10 Pro OEM key but i see error 0xc004f050 ( see the picture below ). First i think that i have wrong license key or used license key. I try to ask Google again and i find that i can’t upgrade my Windows 10 Home Retail with Windows 10 Pro OEM license. I can do that only with Microsoft’s generic product key.
Note: When we use Microsoft’s generic product key for upgrade Windows 10 Home Retail to Windows 10 Pro we will lose our Windows 10 Home license. After upgrading finished our system will be without any license
In the table below we can see all Microsoft Generic Product Keys. In my case i was used Windows 10 Pro RTM Generic Key ( retail ).

On first try, after i typed key ( VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T ) i get same error as before. Then i try some other key from table and result was the same. After i spend a couple of hours trying to upgrade my system without results i found solution.
I was trying to upgrade my system with active internet connection!! Yes, I thought that the upgrade implies that my PC must create some connection with Microsoft’s Server and downloading some sort of file needed for upgrade. But obviously that is not a case.
When i disconnect my cable from Lan Card and fill filed with Microsoft’s generic product key ( VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T ) i click on Next and the Upgrade your edition of Windows window was appeared ( see the picture below ).
After clicking on the Start, the process started! On the picture below we can see how it looks like. While the process is running, the computer has been restarted several times and when upgrade was finished the welcome screen appear.
Now i was plug-in my UTP Cable back to Lan Card and insert my Windows 10 Pro OEM key and all is done. I was successfully upgrade my Windows 10 Home Retail to Windows 10 Pro OEM.
